Azusa, CA (August 19, 2015)-Mortech Manufacturing Company of Azusa, California has made significant upgrades to its lighting and energy systems that will provide substantial energy- and cost-savings while reducing its carbon footprint.

Being a leader in providing quality anatomy equipment and instruments to a wide range of post-mortem facilities, Mortech has been setting the standard as the market-leader in superior customer service with high-grade, quality equipment. Now Mortech is an industry leader in setting the example for others to follow by investing in energy saving lighting and installing solar panels that will produce enough electrical power to effectively take Mortech off the grid.

Mortech has installed quality LED lighting and Solar Panels to reduce its reliance on conventional electrical utilities and make a difference by lowering its carbon output.

The LED fixtures will provide overall energy savings of 50% from the replaced conventional lighting. The LED lighting program is expected to achieve over $19,000 in annual energy and maintenance savings a year. Because of the substantial reduction in kWh usage, SunGreen Systems was able to IMG_0448install a smaller more efficient solar PV system to offset the remaining energy.

“Energy-efficient LEDs light up our manufacturing and office areas without glare, noise or discoloration. The mood of the entire staff has brightened with the better light,” said John Joseph. “The investment in LED and Solar will help us achieve our goal of profitability and will make our company very sustainable.”

Mortech has replaced over 900 conventional lamps and installed an 184kW solar PV system. The combination of replacing the existing conventional lamps plus producing on site renewable energy (solar PV) will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 1,257,000 pounds per year, sulfur dioxide emissions by 4,192 pounds, nitrogen dioxide by 2,096 pounds and harmful mercury from florescent lamps by 3,754 grams per year. The local impact is equivalent to 145 acres of tree’s being planted and 96 automobiles being removed from the streets per year.

The combination of energy savings of LED lights from LED PowerSaver with the production of electrical power through solar from Sun Green Systems is a winning combination for Mortech.
